The Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery Department at NICRH plays a vital role in restoring form and function for cancer patients who undergo extensive surgical procedures. The department specializes in post-oncologic reconstructive surgeries to improve the quality of life for patients, focusing on both aesthetic and functional restoration.

Facilities:

  1. Successful reconstruction cases improving patient survival and quality of life.
  2. Introduction of advanced microvascular surgery techniques.
  3. Enhancement of multidisciplinary collaboration in oncologic surgery.

  1. Post-Cancer Reconstructive Surgery – Includes breast reconstruction after mastectomy, head and neck reconstructions, and limb salvage procedures.
  2. Microvascular Surgery – Advanced techniques to reconstruct defects using free tissue transfer.
  3. Skin Grafting & Flap Surgery – To cover wounds and defects after tumor removal.
  4. Management of Lymphedema – Surgical and non-surgical approaches for lymphedema, especially post-mastectomy.
  5. Scar Revision & Aesthetic Rehabilitation – Improving appearance and function following cancer surgery.
  6. Training & Research – Regular workshops, academic sessions, and participation in clinical research to enhance surgical outcomes.


Objectives 

  • To restore form, function, and appearance in cancer patients following complex oncologic surgeries.

  • To provide comprehensive post-oncologic reconstructive surgical care, including breast, head and neck, and limb reconstruction.

  • To improve patients’ quality of life through advanced reconstructive and aesthetic surgical techniques.

  • To ensure effective management of surgical defects using microvascular surgery, skin grafting, and flap reconstruction.

  • To manage cancer-related complications such as lymphedema and post-surgical scars.

  • To promote multidisciplinary collaboration in oncologic care for optimal patient outcomes.

  • To enhance surgical expertise through continuous training, academic activities, and clinical research.
