The National Institute of Cancer Research and Hospital (NICRH) provides colposcopy services on an outpatient (outdoor) basis to ensure early detection and diagnosis of cervical abnormalities among women. The colposcopy unit at NICRH is equipped with modern diagnostic facilities and staffed by experienced gynecologists and trained nurses. Patients visiting the outdoor department with abnormal Pap smear results, suspicious cervical lesions, or symptoms such as post-coital bleeding are referred for colposcopy examination. This service allows for a detailed evaluation of the cervix, vagina, and vulva using a colposcope, enabling visual identification of precancerous or cancerous changes. When necessary, targeted biopsies are taken for histopathological confirmation. By providing these services on an outpatient basis, NICRH promotes accessible, affordable, and timely cervical cancer screening and diagnosis, contributing significantly to women’s reproductive health and cancer prevention efforts in Bangladesh.
